Dagwood - Paradise

Facebook

Genre: Pop Punk
FFO: Osker, Seaweed, The Ramones

This album was just released yesterday by the band for free. I've already listened to it a few times through, and I haven't even had it for a full 24 hours. Dagwood always does some unexpected shit. They played one of their first shows with Alkaline Trio at Toads place, and just recently played with Badfish, a Sublime tribute band. They have a podcast called Mindplow that's filled with prank phone calls, skits, new songs from them, and interviews with people. They interviewed Chris from Hostage Calm in the first podcast. They also have a Public Access show coming out soon, and I can't even imagine how weird that's going to be. Anyways, back to the album, it's really good and catchy, and doesn't have any random pop punk mosh parts. Everyone should check this out.

Make Do And Mend - Live Acoustic Set 10/3/10

Facebook

Genre: Pop Punk/Acoustic
FFO: Hot Water Music, Polar Bear Club

According to James in the recording, this was the first time the band played live acoustically. I usually like when bands do some acoustic things, but I was kinda iffy when I heard MDAM were planning on releasing an acoustic EP. But the track they have online for the Acoustic EP sounds pretty tight, so I decided to look into it some more. While I was looking for more info, I saw a couple youtube videos of them performing this set in someone's apartment, thought it sounded pretty neat, and ripped the audio. Check this out.

Inside Out - No Spiritual Surrender

Genre: Hardcore/Punk
FFO: Burn, Judge

I've been listening to this record a lot lately, so I figured I'd post it on here. Inside Out was Zach De La Rocha's band before going on to start Rage Against The Machine. The band also featured members of Shelter, 108, Chain Of Strength, Burn, Gorilla Biscuits, and a few other notable bands. No spiritual Surrender was the band's only release, and was one of the earlier Rev releases. The band had material written for a new record, but broke up shortly after Vic DiCara left the band. Zach went on to start Rage Against The Machine.

Baby Grand / Tim Casey - Hot Air Press Split

This split came out a few years ago on Hot Air Press on a very small run of cassette tapes. Both sides of the split are acoustic. Baby Grand started as an acoustic project between two friends, and are now a full band. Tim Casey is, and has been the bassist for Hostage Calm.

Canvas - Ashes

Facebook / Bandcamp

Genre: Indie/Rock
FFO: Call It Arson, Weezer

Canvas is an Indie band from Connecticut featuring current, and ex, members of Call It Arson, The Distance, Stab You In The Head, Cold Snap, Baby Grand, and a few other bands. Ashes is a solid, cohesive album where all the songs complements one another. The first two tracks, and the last two tracks on the album are new songs, and the four songs in the middle of the album are on the EP that was released last year. That being said, this is one of my favorite releases of the year so far. Everyone should check this out, and if you like it, you should seriously buy it.

Gunther Weezul - Demo 2006

Gunther Weezul

Genre: Hardcore/Metal
FFO: Section 8

Gunther Weezul is a band from Upstate New York, formed in 2004, featuring members of Section 8, Deciples of Berkowitz, and Street Sweeper. Kasey Dorr from Section 8 sings for the band, but the band has a much different vibe than Section 8. To date, they have released this demo, an EP, and a full length. Check it out.

Walter Schreifels - Home Recording

Walter Schreifels

He released his first solo record just last year. This Home Recording is from 2006, and has a few songs that appear on the record, a Moondog cover, and some songs not released elsewhere.

Heavy Breath - The EP's

Facebook

Genre: Hardcore/Punk
FFO: The Suicide File, 108, Refused

Heavy Breath is a newer hardcore band from Connecticut. They just released a 12" compiling their two EPs on Get Young Records. The first side of the 12" is their new EP, Ugly Americans, which is a lot faster and weirder than previous EP, Synthemesc Dreams. Ugly Americans has lots of samples and weird guitar parts. But it's a really great, unique piece of work that everyone should listen to. Synthemesc Dreams is a lot different, and every song flows together. It also has A Clockwork Orange lyrical theme, which rules. Check this out.

Sum Of All fears - From This Day Forward...

Genre: Hardcore
FFO: Divided By Hate, Voice Of Reason

Sum Of All Fears was a CTHC band from the 90's. They did a split with Tenfold (another CTHC band) that was the first Bridge 9 release, when B9 was still in CT. This album is filled with hits, and is easily one of my favorite 90's hardcore albums.

I Am The Avalanche - Rough Demos

Facebook

Genre: Pop Punk
FFO: The Movielife

I Am The Avalanche is a Pop Punk band from New York. IATA is Vinnue Caruana, from The Movielife's new (not so new anymore) band. They released an album in 2005, and because of problems with their record label they haven't been able to release any new material. A couple years ago, these demos started floating around on the internet. The band recently announced that they'll be releasing their second full length record some time this year. So until then, listen to these songs and be patient.
